MEET THE CHEF
From Manado, Indonesia, Chef Nixon was born into generations of culinary experts of the Asian cuisine. As a young adult of nineteen years old, he emigrated to the United States in hopes of pursuing his culinary dreams. Nixon set out to explore the Thai and Chinese kitchen. Thirteen years later with vast experience in these cuisines, he moved on to explore the Japanese culture and fell in love with its food. His path led him to meet the great Sushi Master, Chef Lenny Shawn, owner and head chef of Hayashi Sushi & Grill in Newport News, Virginia. Two years later, seasoned and ready, eager and passionate, Chef Nixon accepted the position of head chef at Szechuan Tokyo in Sea Girt, New Jersey. Soon after, he transitioned to Fumio in Livingston, New Jersey, where he discovered the Kosher version of sushi. Jade Eatery & Lounge in Forest Hills, New York recruited Nixon to join them as Head Chef years later.
